Report: Chelsea scout wide man Marc Cucurella, who is set for Barcelona exit

Chelsea have reportedly been monitoring Barcelona youngster Marc Cucurella, who has been out on loan at their La Liga rivals Getafe this season.

The 21-year-old is still on the books with Spanish giants Barcelona, but has been impressing this campaign for a Getafe side that sit fifth in La Liga.

According to Goal, the Blues are tracking the youngster but he’s considered low down on their shortlist of possible left-back targets.

It is understood that Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach are all interested in him ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report explains that Getafe have an agreement to sign Cucurella permanently in the summer for £5.4million and he’s expected to leave Camp Nou, but that will include a buyout clause of £23million that has attracted interest from elsewhere.

The Spaniard also has the versatility to play further forward as a winger, something he’s done quite successfully for Getafe this campaign by managing five assists in 34 games for them this season.

Chelsea’s left-back position is certainly a key area that manager Frank Lampard needs to address in the next transfer window and should focus on a more experienced option that can walk straight into the starting XI.
