Chelsea reportedly sent representatives to watch Robin Gosens during Atalanta’s 5-0 win over Parma on Monday. The German full-back has impressed for the Italian club so far this season, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in Serie A.
Lampard requires a new left-back in the January transfer window, and it appears that Gosens is one of the players being considered. Marcus Alonso and Emerson are not considered good enough for Chelsea moving forward and the club has already been linked with several names.

Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb has now reported that Gosens is being monitored by the club after an impressive start to the season. The 25-year-old has scored six goals and provided four assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
They are numbers far higher than those of Chelsea’s current left-back options. Alonso has just one goal and four assists, while Emerson has just a single assist to his name.
The Blues representatives who watched Gosens on Monday will certainly have been impressed by what they saw. He scored one of the five goals and assisted another in a resounding victory for an Atalanta side currently sat fifth in the Italian league.

It remains to be seen what moves Lampard will make in the January transfer window. Some inconsistent league form has highlighted the need for reinforcements and left-back is seen as one of if not the most important area.
If Gosens is available for a reasonable fee, he could prove to be a valuable addition for the current Chelsea side.
