Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Torino’s Gleison Bremer as a potential transfer target.

According to Football London, the Blues have set their sights on the 25-year-old defender after watching him over the course of the season.

It is understood Thomas Tuchel’s side are likely to be in the market for a new defender in the summer window.

The report explains Torino’s centre-back is seen as a potential like-for-like replacement with Antonio Rudiger at Stamford Bridge, too.

Bremer, who’s an important player for Serie A Italian club Torino, is one of the most consistent defenders playing in his division.

The Brazilian centre-half is a stand-in captain for a Torino side sat 10th in Serie A. Also, he ticks a lot of boxes in terms of being aggressive, strong and quick in defence.

He’s got the same agency as Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah, according to Transfermarkt. It’s something worth noting just in case the Blues ramp up transfer interest in Bremer.

Chelsea headache

It’s obvious one of the biggest decisions in the summer for Chelsea will be on how they replace key defender Rudiger, who’s leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Ideally, the Blues can bring in an athletic centre-half that can try match his tenacity and ability on the left of a back three.

On paper, Bremer looks like an intriguing potential replacement. The fact the South American centre-back is yet to feature in Premier League football is a concern, though.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig’s talented defender Josko Gvardiol is another linked with a potential swap to Stamford Bridge.

There’s always a risk when you bring in someone from a foreign league, but Tuchel will hopefully get a free reign on what and who he wants.
