Chelsea have reportedly signed Plymouth Argyle teenager Harry McGlinchey just days before the club’s FA Cup meeting on Saturday.
According to PlymouthLive, McGlinchey has left Plymouth’s academy to join the European champions.
Who is Harry?
The League 1 side, who will travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend, issued a statement to PlymouthLive regarding this transfer.
“Plymouth Argyle Football Club can confirm that Harry McGlinchey has left Home Park to accept an opportunity to join a Premier League academy set-up.
“Senior club staff and representatives spent a great deal of time working with Harry and his family making the best possible case to keep him at Argyle.
“However, we fully respect their decision, and that the move represents a life-changing opportunity. Everyone associated with Argyle wishes Harry well for the future.”
Little is known about McGlinchey, considering he is just 14 and without a player biography on Plymouth’s official website.
Perhaps some avid football fans will know his father, Brian, a member of Argyle’s 2001/02 Division three title-winning team.

Senior McGlinchey only played 19 times for the Devonshire side before joining Torquay United.
Now, his legacy lives on through Harry as a potential future Premier League star.
Chelsea’s young guns
Chelsea’s recent signings have all been made with a nod to their long-term project.
The Blues acquired Derby County academy prospect Dylan Williams in January, the 18-year-old who recently broke into Wayne Rooney’s first team.
They also managed to get Mason Burstow’s move from Charlton Athletic over the line just as the window snapped shut, before sending him back to the Valley for the remainder of the campaign.

Burstow scored three times in Charlton’s journey to the EFL Trophy quarter-final.
None of these youthful talents will likely even touch Thomas Tuchel’s squad for a while, but it’s nice to know they are there for backup.
