Premier League club Burnley could reportedly come back in during the summer to try sign Chelsea’s rising star Conor Gallagher, who is thriving out on loan in the Championship this season.

The versatile midfielder spent the first half of the season impressing out on loan at Charlton Athletic, before making the switch to Championship rival Swansea City in January for the rest of this campaign.

According to the Sun, Burnley would like to try sign Gallagher for next season if he becomes available on loan again and would have to give him guaranteed game time.

It is explained that Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem have watched the 20-year-old in action this term during his time in the Championship and would like him on loan next season too.

Gallagher’s stock has risen immensely so far this year and he will return to Chelsea as an in demand star.

Senior Blues manager Frank Lampard needs to decide if he’s ready for a first-team shot at Stamford Bridge, but if not shipping him out to a top-flight rival could be great for his development.

He’s managed five assists in 10 appearances as an attacking midfielder since he linked up with Swansea in the New Year.

But he showed at Charlton he can slot into a deeper midfield role with his technical ability and he scored six goals in 26 appearances for them.
