Chelsea have now made an improved bid to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton – although the Seagulls have already rejected the offer.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the latest on Moises Caicedo and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Evening Standard – Chelsea were preparing an offer worth £70m plus additional payments for the Ecuador international, who John Barnes once called a “fantastic” player, earlier this week.
That has now been submitted, although Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t got the response he wanted from Brighton.
If the bid had been successful, it would’ve made Caicedo Chelsea’s sixth-most expensive player in history behind Enzo Fernandez, Romelu Lukaku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Wesley Fofana.
However, Chelsea may now have to offer Brighton a lot more for the South American.

TalkSPORT are claiming that the Seagulls believe they can make around £100m from the sale of Caicedo, after seeing Declan Rice move to Arsenal from West Ham in a deal worth £105m.
The 21-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and is very keen for the transfer to happen, while Liverpool are also said to be interested as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho look set to move to Saudi Arabia.
Caicedo won’t be happy with Brighton as Chelsea see bid rejected
By the sounds of it, Caicedo is close to taking matters into his own hands.
Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports believes the Ecuadorian is growing “really unhappy” at the delay surrounding his move to Chelsea, and is desperate for it to go through.

The aforementioned story from the Evening Standard adds that Caicedo wanted Brighton to accept Chelsea’s bid, so the £60,000-a-week man is going to be very disappointed at today’s news.
That bodes well for Chelsea, as Caicedo submitting an official transfer request, or refusing to play for Brighton during pre-season, will surely force the Seagulls into finding an agreement with the Blues – nobody wants to keep an unhappy player amongst the squad.
