Chelsea think Mason Mount is valued at around £80million, according to reports.

Mason Mount, who’s got just over a year left on his contract, is a hot topic for discussion in the transfer rumour mill.

The 24-year-old is a massive success story from the Blues academy, growing into a key individual for the senior team in the last few seasons.

However, there’s now some uncertainty around his future. As it stands, his current deal at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in the summer of 2024.

The Daily Mail claimed yesterday that Mount is valued at £80million.

It is understood that Chelsea’s attacking midfielder is a ‘prime target’ for Liverpool, too.

The England international is still a huge favourite with sections of the Blues fanbase, who are keen for the club to tie down his long-term future and fend off any interested buyers.

According to The Athletic last month, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has stressed how important Mount is to the club during direct conversations as contract talks continue.

There’s no doubt that Mount’s reputation has taken a slight hit recently.

He’s scored three goals and made six assists in 35 games across all competitions this season. Moreover, his overall influence in matches hasn’t been at its usual high standard, which is why he’s not been a nailed-on starter.

However, he’s still only 24 and has proven himself countless times on the big stage.

It doesn’t seem that wild to value him at £80million when you see the current state of the market.

We hope Chelsea can convince Mount his long-term future is in West London and that he can soon get back to playing at his best.
