Chelsea will reportedly battle Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer to try sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
According to the Mirror, the Blues are looking at the 23-year-old and want to try bring him to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
It is underwood that manager Frank Lampard is a “big admirer” of the French centre-forward, while United are long-term admirers too.
The report explains that French top-flight club Lyon made it clear they would not sell him in the recent January window, but they are expected to change their stance in the summer to make him available and he’s valued in excess of £60million.
Dembele has been in excellent form so far this season, with 18 goals in 34 games across all competitions.
He previously rose to fame in Scotland with 51 goals in 94 appearances for Celtic, while in England he managed 19 goals in 64 games for Fulham as a youngster.
The forward has proven himself in Ligue 1 during the past couple of seasons now and it’s no surprise that Lampard is a fan, as he’s a powerful youngster with immense potential.
Chelsea simply have to add another top-class striker to their squad going into next season if they want to bring the gap to the elite teams and Dembele could turn out to be ideal competition for current star Tammy Abraham.
