Manchester City are reportedly prepared to join the race for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell when the transfer window opens.
According to a report from the Telegraph, Chilwell who has been considered as a transfer target should Manchester City need to recruit in that position.
At the moment, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola still has Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko as his left-back options.
However, Mendy has often struggled with injuries during his time at the Etihad, while the latter could be moved into midfield.
But similar to Chelsea, Leicester’s valuation for the England international could be the stumbling block.
The report claimed the Foxes rate the defender as highly as they did Harry Maguire who joined Manchester United for £85million, a world-record fee for a defender.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have been linked with the left-back for months, with Frank Lampard reportedly a big fan.
Lampard has shuffled between Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso (even Cesar Azpilicueta) for the role, but neither of the two appears to grab the first-choice spot.
The Blues are likely hoping to raise money from selling either of them in order to bring Chilwell to Stamford Bridge.
That being said, Chilwell is still under contract with Leicester until 2024 and according to the Mirror, Leicester are in no financial pressure to sell.
