Chelsea are prepared to make another attempt to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos this summer, according to Portuguese outlet Correio de Manha.

Despite the tough negotiations over Enzo Fernandez’s transfer, which lasted until the final hours of the January deadline day, Chelsea are reportedly still interested in doing another business with Benfica.

This time, it is potentially for Benfica’s top scorer, Ramos.

According to Correio de Manha, the Blues already tried to get “the preference” over Ramos during the negotiations for Fernandez, which Benfica refused.

This means very little, however, as Chelsea are expected to be back for the 21-year-old this summer.

Ramos, who has 13 goals and an assist from 17 appearances in Liga Portugal, reportedly has a €120million (£106m) release clause, similar to what Fernandez had previously.

However, unlike Fernandez, Benfica would reportedly listen to slightly lower offers.

The report mentions that the minimum they would ask is still around €100m (£88m), though, which is still a huge amount for a relatively inexperienced goalscorer.

Interestingly, despite Benfica’s high asking price, Chelsea are still not the only club in the race for the Portugal international.

Manchester United are Newcastle United are said to be interested in Ramos, too.

The report adds that Benfica also received an offer from a Premier League club for the striker last summer, but the €30m bid was far from enough to satisfy them.

The Benfica academy graduate is under contract with the club until summer 2026.
