Chelsea reportedly tried to swap Timo Werner in a deal for Nordi Mukiele in last summer’s transfer window.
Werner, who had two turbulent as a Chelsea player, was sold back to RB Leipzig in August.
The 26-year-old forward is getting back to his best with the German side, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances so far this season.
Leipzig did have quite a high turnover of players in the summer, which did include selling several players.
Mukiele, 25, is a versatile player who ended up completing a £13million transfer to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports suggest he could have ended up in England, though.

Timo Werner for Nordi Mukiele
Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed Chelsea wanted to sign athletic defender Mukiele in the previous transfer window when he was still at Leipzig.
In fact, they wanted to sign him and include Werner as part of negotiations.
In the end, Werner did get to re-sign for Leipzig. Mukiele is now in PSG colours, though.
“Chelsea tried to hijack PSG’s deal to sign Nordi Mukiele in the summer,” Romano explained.
“The Blues were keen to include Mukiele as part of the deal to let Timo Werner return to RB Leipzig. Still, Nordi decided to join PSG and it never changed.”

It’s quite frustrating to hear that Chelsea couldn’t get this deal over the line because Mukiele would have been a really shrewd addition to the squad this season.
The 25-year-old is a right-back, who can also play centre-back, that is coping well at PSG with 15 games played during this campaign.
For Chelsea, the injury to influential player Reece James has left them with a sizeable hole in the team.
There’s no doubt that it’s an area of the squad the Blues have got to try reinforce because James can’t play every game in a season.
