Chelsea are reportedly interested in Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, but his transfer would come at a mega price.

According to RMC Sport, Chelsea and Manchester United are “closely interested” in the 21-year-old star.

However, the report explains Premier League rivals Leicester are in a strong position down to the fact the centre-back is still under contract at the King Power Stadium until 2027.

It is understood it could take at least €80million (£68million) for clubs to sign him.

If Chelsea do sign Fofana for a near-£70million plus figure, he would become their most fourth expensive signing ever.

Romelu Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Kepa Arrizabalaga are the only players in Blues history to be signed for over the £70million mark (Transfermarkt).

Chelsea interested in Fofana

Thomas Tuchel’s side have received links to the Leicester centre-back already this summer. However, this fresh report brings to light the kind of huge valuation the Foxes have on him.

He’s a super talented French defender that was a notable miss at the King Power when he missed a large period of time through injury. The youngster finished the season very strongly after making his return, though.

Described as “amazing” by his Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, he looks destined to play at the very highest level moving forward.

Chelsea know through examples of signing N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell from Leicester that they help massive talents develop.

Blues going French

Could the Blues end up signing two French centre-halves this summer?

It’s been reported Chelsea are on the verge of signing Sevilla’s Jules Kounde in a £55million deal.

He’s a senior France international with supreme talent, while Under-21 international Fofana looks more than good enough to follow in his footsteps.
