Chelsea are reportedly eyeing in demand defender Antonee Robinson from Championship club Wigan Athletic.
According to the Mirror, the Blues are one of the teams keeping tabs on the 22-year-old full-back.
It is understood that Frank Lampard’s side are joined by Premier League duo Aston Villa and Newcastle United in monitoring him.
The report explains that the left-back had a proposed £10million transfer to AC Milan collapse in the January transfer window, as the Italian giants were unable to complete a medical in time.
Robinson was previously on the books at Everton as a youngster, but he made a permanent move to Wigan in 2019 after a previous loan spell.
The USA international has been an ever-present in their team so far this season with 30 appearances across all competitions and has impressed at Championship level.
He’s a highly-rated defender with rapid pace and he’s great in one-on-one scenarios.
Chelsea fans may be sceptical about targeting Championship players, but last season their current stars Mason Mount, Reece James, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham were all learning their trade out on loan in England’s second-tier.
The Blues certainly need more reinforcements at left-back at Stamford Bridge and they should continue to watch Robinson to assess whether he is capable of competing for the role next season.
