Chelsea will soon make one final push to convince Mason Mount to sign a new contract with them.

Mason Mount, 24, has been a popular name in the paper recently.

The attacking midfielder’s deal expires at Stamford Bridge next summer, so there’s a lot of talk about whether the Blues will let him enter the final year of his contract.

Journalist Simon Phillips claimed on his Substack this week that Chelsea are planning to sit down with Mount and make him a fresh contract offer.

Now, some more detail has emerged today about the contract situation.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are set to try again to reach a solution with Mount regarding his future.

If they can’t agree a new salary, Mount will be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

It is understood that the academy graduate wants to earn a new deal similar to teammate Reece James, who’s currently on a £250,000-a-week package.

ESPN adds that Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus are all interested buyers waiting to see first the outcome of these new contract negotiations at Chelsea.

Danny Murphy recently raved about the individual quality of “terrific” player Mount, adding that he would walk into the Liverpool or Man United side.

Despite an indifferent 2022/23 campaign so far, Mount has been the standout individual in the Chelsea squad during recent seasons.

His party cite James’ salary as one he should be matching, which you can understand when you look at the path of both academy graduates in recent seasons. Admittedly, we do feel James has edged ahead of him now in terms of his importance to the squad.

Our fear is watching Mount leave in the summer and going on to fulfill his vast potential at a Premier League rival.
