Lille striker Jonathan David won’t be moving to Chelsea unless Timo Werner or Romelu Lukaku head in the opposite direction.
This is according to Goal, who claim the Blues will need to sell one of their expensive signings to make room for David in their squad.
David watches on as Chelsea destory
The young centre-forward has cropped up in Chelsea conversation quite a lot recently.
It was reported by ESPN last month the Stamford Bridge chain of command had expressed interest in the 22-year-old.
His audition for a potential move to South West London did not go according to plan.
David and HIS Lille co-workers made the short trip across the channel to face Thomas Tuchel’s team in the Champions League last night.

Intent on defending their European crown, Chelsea left the Ligue 1 side feeling pretty battered and bruised by the full-time whistle.
Kai Havertz opened proceedings after seven minutes, having nearly scored twice just moments before.
Lille slowly settled into the fixture, but their endeavours hardly threatened the Premier League outfit.
Christian Pulisic crushed any hopes of a surprise turnaround in the second half, curling his effort past the goalkeeper to double Chelsea’s advantage.
Jonathan in, Werner out?
David has usually been the one celebrating goals this season, not commiserating seeing them go in at the opposite end.
He leads Lille’s scoring charts with 16, adding another four to his tally whilst representing the Canadian national team.
However, his last club goal dates back to December.

This almost matches Werner’s run, who hasn’t netted since the 5-1 FA Cup victory in early January.
The German’s form has arguably been less consistent than during his debut Chelsea campaign, where he finished the term with 12 goals across all competition.
Standing on half a dozen in 2021/22, it seems unlikely the former Bundesliga gem will double his tally before June.
Failure to hit that benchmark and the Blues might well consider selling him in the summer.
Werner may not resist this move, as he will be desperate to rediscover the output that made him such a respected force at RB Leipzig.

Roman Abramovich won’t allow the attacker to leave for much less than he arrived for, meaning possible suitors might have to fork out £45m (Sky).
Earn the reimbursement and Chelsea could splash the £37m (Goal) needed to sign David.
Then you’d still be in pocket, Roman!
