Chelsea have turned down an opening bid from Arsenal for Kai Havertz because it was too low.

That is according to The Telegraph.

The speculation around Kai Havertz leaving Chelsea and joining Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer is really starting to pick up.

In fact, fresh updates last night shared that there’s been contact between the London clubs.

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea have turned down an opening offer from Arsenal for Havertz.

It is explained that the Blues value the German forward at £70million.

Apparently, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are prepared to sell the 24-year-old player to Arsenal this summer for the right price.

The report adds that the Gunners would be prepared to match Havertz’s £250,000-a-week salary and personal terms would be a ‘formality’ between the parties.

Therefore, it’s all down to Chelsea and Arsenal to agree a transfer sum.

Described as “incredibly talented” by Graham Potter, Havertz possesses so much individual quality.

Chelsea fans have grown frustrated that the left-footed attacker isn’t consistent enough, though.

FootballTransfers has claimed that Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has been speaking with Havertz and trying to convince him to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium.

It feels like there is a real split within the fanbase regarding the future of Havertz.

Some feel now is the perfect time to sell him, even if it’s to a main rival. Others believe the attacker can still fulfil his potential in a Chelsea shirt.

We could definitely picture Havertz doing well in a No 10 position next season within Pochettino’s system, but will Arsenal get close to meeting the £70million asking price?
