Report: Chelsea willing to sell 27-year-old for £41m less than they paid, still nobody wants to buy him

Reports suggest Chelsea have set the asking price for clubs looking to permanently sign Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Athletic have claimed the Blues are looking for £30m for the 27-year-old, which is £41m less than the fee they paid to sign him in 2018.

Starting minutes have been at a premium for the Spain international, with the rapid rise of Edouard Mendy making him almost undroppable for manager Thomas Tuchel.

While Kepa endured a drastic drop in confidence following his dire second season at the club, cup fixtures and penalty shootout heroics should have gone some way to beginning to rebuild his belief in his own abilities.

Blues fans certainly saw the best of the Spaniard in his first season under Maurizio Sarri, with his reflexes noted particularly as a major strength.

However, the club are prepared to accept their failing in the market and cut their losses, with The Athletic reporting he is finalising a loan move to re-join his former Italian manager at Napoli.

The report goes on to say that the Serie A outfit offer the Blues their best chance at securing a permanent deal away from the club, although the price looks set to prove a sticking point again.

With the club agreeing a fee for goalkeeper of the future Gabriel Slonina, the path to the Chelsea first team looks as difficult as ever for Kepa, with a move seemingly the only option for him to reignite his career before it slides away from him.

The signing is likely to go down as one of the worst in Premier League history, and one of the greatest failings of the prior ownerships time at the club.

With that being said, supporters will be happy to see the ordeal behind them, as they look to build under Todd Boehly and the new owners.
