Chelsea defender Tariq Lamptey is reportedly in talks with French side Lille about a move at the end of the season.

According to the Sun, the Blues have been “desperately” trying to tie the 19-year-old down to a new deal at Stamford Bridge as his current one expires in the summer.

It is understood that the teenager has resisted signing a new contract due to a fear of senior opportunities moving forward.

The report explains that Lille are “serious contenders” to sign the English full-back after entering discussions.

They want to try bring him in during the summer when he becomes a free agent, but he also has the option to sign a pre-contract agreement this month.

Ligue 1 outfit Lille have now emerged as suitors for Lamptey, while RMC Sport previously stated that he was on the radar of French pair Paris Saint-Germain and Nice.

Lamptey is an exciting talent to come out of the academy, but it looks like he could be one that slips through the net.

He’s been given his first three senior appearances this season by manager Frank Lampard and has caught the eye in them.

He is an attack-minded right-back with great pace and athleticism, but unfortunately for him the long-term spot could be locked down by impressive teammate Reece James.
