Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is reportedly set to depart on loan to Championship side Swansea City for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old spent the first half of the campaign thriving out on loan at Charlton Athletic, who are 19th-placed in the Championship table.
But the Blues recalled him from that spell early and it looks like he will now join a promotion-chasing team in Swansea that sit seventh in the league.
According to the Guardian, Gallagher trained with Chelsea’s first-team on Tuesday and is now expected to join Swansea.
The report details that the England Under-21 international has already “agreed to move” to the Liberty Stadium
Swansea have already taken Chelsea defender Marc Guehi on a loan basis in January and it looks like they will soon have another Blues academy graduate in their squad.
The Welsh outfit are a team that play some attractive football and they are looking to compete at the top end of the table.
It seems a risk to take Gallagher away from Charlton when he’s been performing so well for them, but on the flip side he will now be playing with better players around him at Swansea.
Chelsea are going to look foolish if he doesn’t nail down a spot in the Swansea team fairly quickly, as he was progressing well at The Valley and playing on a regular basis.
The defensive midfielder dictates possession from deeper areas and has great vision, but also chipped in with six goals and three assists in 26 games for Charlton in the first half of the season.
