Hudson-Odoi will join Bayer Leverkusen

Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of becoming the latest young English player to tackle the Bundesliga, something that’s proven a big success for individuals in recent years.

Chelsea’s rapid attacker will hope he can hit the ground running with Leverkusen.

For certain, he’s got the pace, dribbling and ability to be a success this year during a loan with Germany.

Hopefully, it helps him return to Stamford Bridge as a more complete player.

Described as “fantastic” by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel previously, Hudson-Odoi is actually a fairly experienced youngster with 126 first-team appearances for the Blues already. It does still feel like his game has plenty to develop, though.

If he can enjoy a blistering start to his Leverkusen career, perhaps he can be an outside bet to sneak into England’s World Cup squad this winter.

Fair play to Hudson-Odoi for taking the initiative and seeking out nailed-on first-team minutes elsewhere.

This year abroad definitely shouldn’t be end of his Chelsea career, but an important chapter in his development.
