French club Lyon have reportedly started talks with Chelsea about Blues player Emerson Palmieri.
According to The Guardian, Lyon are in discussions to try sign the 27-year-old defender this summer.
It is understood that Thomas Tuchel’s side are prepared to sell the left-back this month because of the oversized squad. In addition, he’s below both Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the battle for the left wing-back role at Stamford Bridge.
The report says that Lyon have ended up turning their attention this window to Emerson, who could end up costing around £15million.
Emerson, who won the Euros in the summer with Italy, has been with Chelsea since January 2018. However, the left-footer has played only 71 first-team games and struggled to force his way into the best XI.

Emerson sale make sense for all parties
For Lyon, they are chasing the signature of a new left-back. They need a full-back reinforcement after missing out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa.
Chelsea’s squad is far too stacked right now and offloading a couple of faces should be a priority.
Above all, Emerson is someone that deserves to be playing more regularly.
It looks like he’s a popular figure in west London and has been the ultimate professional despite his lack of game time. He played just 15 games across all competitions last season.
But, he could offer a lot to the Lyon XI if he plays regularly.
