SC Heerenveen have signed Chelsea prospect Charlie Webster on loan.

That is according to Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder Courant.

We’re still waiting to hear an official line from either club. It sounds like Charlie Webster will be on his way to Holland next season, though.

Chelsea’s 19-year-old talent has been a big success in recent years at youth level, but he’s now set for his first crack at first-team football.

Leeuwarder Courant has claimed that Dutch top-flight side Heerenveen have signed Webster on a season-long loan.

It is understood that a temporary deal for the Chelsea midfielder has now been sorted.

They add that the Blues academy star is viewed as a “great talent”.

The Eredivisie league has a great track record in developing young stars for the future, so we’re very excited to see how Webster gets on away from Cobham next season.

There’s certainly a long queue of youngsters at Chelsea that will be desperate for a chance in the senior team at Stamford Bridge.

As well as the academy stars coming through like Webster, the Blues are signings some of the world’s brightest teenage prospects under this ownership.

We love the investment into the future and a real focus on young players. However, we do fear there’s not enough experience in the current first-team squad right now ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s first year at the club.

It’s vital the Blues strike the right balance in their transfer deadlings.
