Crystal Palace have now reportedly made a bid worth around £27m for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

According to The Times, Palace have submitted a £27million offer as they try snap up the Blues player in the final few days of the transfer window.

It is understood Patrick Vieira’s side want to reunite with the 22-year-old after he enjoyed a brilliant loan with them last season.

The report says Palace boss Vieira already has a ‘close relationship’ with Gallagher.

Palace £27m Conor Gallagher bid

It’s no big surprise Palace are still in the mix to try re-sign Gallagher, but this time they’d rather a permanent deal over a season-long loan.

The box-to-box central midfielder elevated his game to new heights in Palace colours, which has helped catapult him into Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad.

He’s been part of Chelsea’s first team so far this campaign as a result of last year’s form.

Unfortunately, it’s been a tough beginning to his senior Blues career with some inconsistent displays and even a red card in Saturday’s Premier League victory against Leicester City.

Described as “special” by Palace manager Vieira, Gallagher definitely has the individual quality to make it at Chelsea. There’s question marks about how he fits into the current Blues system under Thomas Tuchel, though.

Despite links of a transfer exit this summer, it’s previously been reported Chelsea have informed interested clubs they’ll be keeping Gallagher beyond this summer.

Let’s see how this story unfolds from now until Thursday’s deadline.

The fact a £27million bid has now been tabled gives the Blues something to think about, but surely Gallagher’s valuation should be far higher when you see the current state of the market.
