Juventus are now making a move to try sign a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, who’s a player strongly linked with Chelsea this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are aware of interest in their 22-year-old centre-back from Bayern Munich.

The report explains Italian giants Juve have responded by targeting Villarreal’s 25-year-old defender Pau Torres. There are now discussions with his agent, too.

Chelsea may be interested to hear developments regarding £200,000-a-week star De Ligt.

It’s been reported Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are still currently in the race to sign the Juventus centre-half. However, he’s agreed personal terms over a move to Bayern Munich and he’s their first-choice target this summer.

Matthijs de Ligt future

For certain, it looks like De Ligt’s moving a step closer to leaving Turin as Juventus plan to replace him.

All transfer speculation seems to point towards the Dutchman ending up at Bayern, though.

Chelsea’s desperation to sign a centre-half this summer means it make sense they’ve been in the mix for De Ligt, who’s one of the most exciting young defenders in Europe.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom that they may fail in this transfer pursuit.

The Blues will reportedly sign 31-year-old Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly imminently. In fact, the player himself has posted a heartfelt farewell message to Napoli on his Instagram on Friday night.

He’s going to immediately reinforce the backline with his experience and quality, plus Chelsea are still linked with a raid for Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe.
