Chelsea target James Maddison will cost over £50million to sign from Leicester City this summer, according to reports.

We’ve recently heard speculation in the media that James Maddison, 26, is a Chelsea target.

The England international suffered relegation from the Premier League this season in a poor Leicester side, but he was so often the standout individual still delivering eye-catching performances every week.

Journalist Simon Phillips reported on his Substack earlier this week that Leicester playmaker Maddison is a target for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, there’s been fresh claims regarding how much the Foxes star will cost.

The Telegraph claims this morning that Leicester’s initial asking price for Maddison is above £50million.

It is explained that Tottenham and Newcastle United are interested in the Foxes attacking midfielder.

Also, the report says that newly-appointed Spurs head coach, Ange Postecoglou, has approved of a move for Maddison.

In our view, Maddison could be a really superb addition at Chelsea.

It sounds like Spurs are at the front of the queue if you believe this fresh news, but we would like to see Chelsea ramp up their own interest in the upcoming weeks.

Maddison definitely has the individual talent of a £50million-plus player. Our guess is clubs could snap him up at a slightly cheaper price when negotiating with relegated Leicester.

The skilful playmaker scores and assists goals at a really good rate. We think he’ll only improve with better players around him, too.
