Eight different Premier League clubs still reportedly want to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher on transfer deadline day.
According to the Daily Mail on their deadline day live blog (7:53am, 1 September), the 22-year-old Blues player still has so much interest in him.
The report says there’s actually eight sides in England’s top division waiting to see if Chelsea allow Gallagher to leave today.
It is added that Aston Villa are a team who enquired about the Blues midfielder yesterday.
Described as “exceptional” by Darren Bent on talkSPORT, Gallagher is a player that proved his quality in the Premier League last season during a superb loan with Crystal Palace.
Unfortunately, the England international has had a challenging start to the new campaign in Chelsea’s first team, which has included picking up a red card in the first half of the recent win against Leicester City.

Eight clubs want Conor Gallagher
It’s no surprise that there’s still a queue of clubs waiting for Gallagher in the last knockings of the summer window.
If he becomes available, it’s a no-brainer for Premier League sides to snap him up.
He’s a box-to-box central midfielder that forced his way into the England squad due to his energetic and quality performances in Palace colours.
Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham are among the other top-flight teams to be linked with Gallagher very recently.
However, Chelsea have reportedly informed interested suitors that their academy graduate is going nowhere this summer.

Keep him
Chelsea’s midfield area looks a bit complicated right now, which is why they’re linked with a late move for Ajax defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez.
Gallagher doesn’t look best suited to the formation where Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel plays a double midfield pivot, but he’s shown flexibility in his systems by introducing a midfield trio at times.
It feels like getting rid of Gallagher in the final few hours of the window would be a mistake.
They should stick with their guns to keep the young midfielder now it’s reached this time in the season and give him some more opportunities to impress.
