Crystal Palace will reportedly attempt to re-sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this month.

According to the Sun, the Selhurst Park chain of command are set to make another bid for the midfielder they had on loan last season.

Patrick Vieira is apparently eager to reunite with the player he described as ‘special’ during their singular year together at Palace.

Gallagher enjoyed arguably his finest senior campaign to date whilst playing under Vieira.

He appeared 39 times for the Eagles, scored eight goals and provided five assists across all competitions.

The 22-year-old only missed four Premier League fixtures, two of those due to being unable to face parent club Chelsea.

This unfortunate and rather unfair law also meant he sat out the FA Cup semi-final thanks to Thomas Tuchel’s team reaching Wembley.

But Gallagher’s spell in South London will not be determined by his cup exile.

It should be remembered for his endless energy, dogged work between both boxes and a general joy to watch.

Could Conor Gallagher leave Chelsea again?

Chelsea’s academy graduate will also recall it as the term he became a senior England international.

Gareth Southgate awarded him a first cap in November 2021, following a fine start to life at Palace.

Southgate even included Gallagher in his World Cup squad, yet didn’t play him once in Qatar.

This no-show at the tournament has begun to reflect on his club football.

Graham Potter hasn’t started Gallagher in any of the last four league outings.

Chelsea face Palace today, and depending on the outcome, might make the boy from Epsom want to hop ship once again.
