Chelsea are reportedly growing fearful that Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe could reject a move to Stamford Bridge.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are in discussions over a £50million deal to sign PSG centre-back Kimpembe.

It is understood there are now fears growing that the 26-year-old will turn down a move, though.

The report explains that Ligue 1 giants PSG are willing to sell the France international, but the player himself is settled where he is and that’s a “major factor” slowing down the transfer.

Kimpembe could reject Chelsea

Despite the fact talks are ongoing, Kimpembe joining Chelsea sounds far from a foregone conclusion.

The left-footed centre-back is a player with huge experience at the top level with PSG, plus he’s got 28 senior caps for world champions France.

The Evening Standard’s report explains his ex-teammates N’Golo Kante and Thiago Silva have been in discussions about a potential switch to West London. Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is a fan after previously coaching him, too.

There’s no doubt Kimpembe would add further quality and depth to Chelsea’s centre-half options, but you don’t want to put a player in an uncomfortable environment.

CB recruits

There’s already been one massive tick in the box this summer from the Blues by signing 31-year-old centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, who joins as someone with an excellent reputation.

However, most supporters agree they need at least one more defender to boost the squad.

It’s been reported Chelsea are set to secure the signing of Sevilla centre-half Jules Kounde imminently.
