Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Argentinian centre-forward Gonzalo Higuain.
According to the Daily Express, the 31-year-old is flying into London on Friday morning for a loan switch to the Blues.
It is understood that he’s booked in for a medical on Friday ahead of a six-month loan for the rest of the season, while another year loan could be triggered in the summer depending on goals, appearances and results.
The report details that Chelsea are set to takeover the striker’s mammoth £170,000-a-week wages, while his arrival will see Alvaro Morata leave Chelsea for Atletico Madrid.
Higuain is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, but he’s set to move clubs during the season.
Chelsea will have to fork out a mega sum for the South American’s wages, but he’s a risk worth taking.
He’s got a decent record of eight goals in 22 games this season for Milan, but has hardly pulled up any tress and has looked someway off his best.
But Higuain previously scored 38 goals in all competitions during the 2015/16 campaign under Maurizio Sarri’s management at Napoli.
The duo look like being back together again and Chelsea surely won’t mind paying the big money if they have a prolific striker in attack.
Chelsea have lacked a world-class centre-forward in the first half of the campaign and Higuain has the potential to fill that void if he settles quickly at Stamford Bridge.
