Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Lille’s Jonathan David.

David, who’s a talisman for French top-flight side Lille, is an extremely exciting young talent.

The quick striker has been on fire so far this season, scoring nine goals in only 11 league appearances.

Aged 22, the Canadian centre-forward is turning himself into a clinical goalscorer, which is why his name is now linked to the Premier League.

Chelsea interested in Jonathan David

According to Jeunes Footeux, Chelsea boss Graham Potter plans to add a new forward to his squad when the January transfer window opens in the New Year.

The report claims that Potter approves the idea of the Blues signing David.

It is understood that Lille would demand at least €60million (£52million) to sell their prized asset, though.

Chelsea should definitely be encouraged by previous claims that Lille’s frontman dreams of playing at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in 2020, David’s agent, Nick Mavromaras, said that Chelsea is one of the clubs his client dreams of playing for. “Real Madrid, Man United and Chelsea are just as much part of his dreams, but for the time being we must remain humble.”

If reports are true about January interest in David, Chelsea should put that on hold for now.

The Blues currently have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang impressing in the No.9 position. Also, Armando Broja is another quality striker at the club right now ready to burst into life.

Praised by Potter recently, 21-year-old Broja is a hungry attacker that deserves more minutes on the pitch.

Chelsea should perhaps looking a little closer to home with their academy graduate before deciding to splash big yet again on a new central forward.
