Inter Milan consider Chelsea talent Trevoh Chalobah as potential summer target to replace Milan Skriniar, according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini.

Skriniar, who has recently been stripped of Inter Milan captaincy, has signed a pre-agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Skriniar’s decision, according to Ceccarini, has officially opened the hunt for his replacement.

Inter are reportedly considering several Serie A options, including Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini and Merih Demiral.

However, Ceccarini claims Inter are eyeing Chelsea’s academy product, Chalobah too.

“Overseas, another option could be Chalobah,” the journalist said (via Juvenews) about Inter’s potential summer move for the Chelsea defender.

“A talk that Inter could set up as part of a broader operation with Chelsea, who are aiming to take [Denzel] Dumfries for next season.”

It is very interesting that he mentioned that Chelsea remain interested in Dumfries despite already signing a right-back, Malo Gusto, who currently stays on loan at Lyon, in January.

Regarding Inter’s reported interest in Chalobah, Chelsea are in a very strong position in any potential negotiations.

The 23-year-old is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2028, and while he has played fewer games since Graham Potter began using a back-four more often, he remains a valuable member of the squad.

An exit is not exactly off the table, however.

Thiago Silva’s expected contract extension means Chalobah may have two players; Silva and Wesley Fofana, ahead of him in the right-sided centre-back pecking order, and he might want to pursue regular football elsewhere.
