Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is being linked with a surprise move away from Stamford Bridge for the first time this summer.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his official website that Italian giants Juventus are now considering the 33-year-old as a possible target this summer, as well as Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.
It is explained that Giroud has agreed a deal in principle with Juventus for a two-year deal and the Blues would ask for just £4.6million for his sale.
The report adds that Juventus will wait to see if any different options arise in the window before possibly pressing ahead with the Giroud transfer.
Despite the fact that centre-forward Timo Werner has moved to Stamford Bridge, it’s looked like Chelsea are going into the season with three quality options in attack.
Blues manager Frank Lampard has new summer signing Werner as the frontrunner for the starting position, as well as academy graduate Tammy Abraham following his breakout year last season and also French World Cup winner Giroud.
Giroud proved last season what an asset he is at Stamford Bridge, scoring 10 goals in just 25 games across all competitions for the club and showing real professionalism to wait for his opportunity.
The left-footed target man offers something different in the final third with his strength and movement, so it would be a real blow going into the new season if he does leave for Serie A champions Juventus.
