Juventus could reportedly target Chelsea’s 27-year-old defender Emerson Palmieri if they sell Alex Sandro this summer.

Tuttosport claims £183,000-a-week left-back Sandro still has one year left on his Juventus contract, but an exit in this transfer window has not been completely ruled out.

It is understood the Italian giants are already looking at potential replacements in defence if he goes.

The report mentions Chelsea full-back Emerson as a possible target for Juve.

Incidentally, Serie A rivals Lazio are reportedly interested this summer in a deal for Emerson, which would form a reunion with manager Maurizio Sarri.

Juventus could target Emerson

As it stands, Emerson’s still a Chelsea player that’s been gearing up for the new campaign with them during pre-season.

The Italy international is an impressive left-back/left wing-back that enjoyed a season-long loan spell with Lyon last year.

However, surely Blues manager Thomas Tuchel will not want to keep him, Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso all in the same squad fighting for one position.

England star Chilwell, who’s back from a long-term injury, appears to be the first-choice option on the left.

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso’s been linked with a transfer exit in this window. However, it’s been claimed Chelsea could now block his sale to Barcelona in this window.

Will the Alonso transfer saga have an effect on Emerson’s future?

With the start of the 2022/23 campaign drawing closer, Emerson will surely want some clarity over his future.

Chelsea fans shouldn’t be overly disappointed if he ends up staying at Stamford Bridge and providing competition for Chilwell on the left.
