Chelsea are reportedly one of the four clubs which have their bids for Gabriel Magalhaes accepted by Lille.
Frank Lampard has had four centre-backs at his disposal at the moment; Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Anthony Rudiger.
However, conceding the most goals (39) among the top seven in the Premier League may lure the club to look for a potential new defender for the summer transfer window.
One defender who has been linked with Chelsea is Lille’s Gabriel.
And according to a journalist Duncan Castles, Chelsea have had their bid for the 22-year-old accepted by Lille, along with three other clubs.
Speaking in the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: “There have been four offers for Gabriel received and accepted by Lille.
“Everton are one of the clubs who have had an offer accepted. Two clubs in Italy have had an offer accepted. The fourth club is Chelsea.”
Castles added that Lille have reduced their asking price for the Brazilian centre-back from €40-45m to €35m. The decrease in their valuation came from the current pandemic situation and the fact that they depend on transfer revenue.
He also claimed Lampard has always wanted to improve his centre-back options since he took over the managerial position, but was not able to do so last summer due to the transfer ban.
While conflict with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia prevented any signing from happening in January.
Lille currently sit on the fourth-place in Ligue 1 and Gabriel has played a major role in it. They’ve had the joint fourth-best defence in the league, conceding just 27 goals this season.
