Chelsea could reportedly face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City in the race for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
According to 90min, De Ligt is on a list of centre-backs that Chelsea want to sign ahead of next season.
It is understood that the 22-year-old may want an exit from Juventus, too. He’s currently struggling during contract discussions with his Italian club, so he could want a move away elsewhere.
The report adds that Man United and Man City are keeping tabs on the youngster’s situation after long-term interest.
Described as a “generational” talent a few years ago by Leonardo Bonucci, De Ligt is a very exciting young centre-half with a great reputation across Europe.
It’s been reported already that Chelsea have actually made the strongest offer so far in the race to sign the Holland international.

Chelsea face competition for De Ligt
It’s an alarming twist that Manchester’s two giant clubs are waiting in the wings for De Ligt.
Reigning Premier League champions Man City are proving to be extremely active in this window. Meanwhile, new Man United boss Erik ten Hag previously coached De Ligt at Ajax.
For Chelsea, it feels imperative they make a marquee signing in defence following Antonio Rudiger’s exit.
De Ligt, who’s already so experienced for someone so young, would be an impressive addition to bring in.
The commanding centre-back would learn so much playing alongside Thiago Silva, who’s shown a knack to help improve others around him.
However, one fear would be shelling out another huge transfer sum due to the amount of recent failures from the club in the transfer market.
