The agents of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez are reportedly working hard to try sort a deal for him to join Chelsea on loan.

According to Sky Sports on their deadline day transfer live blog (3:34pm), Saul’s agents are still trying to sort a loan move for the 26-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that they are going to keep fighting until the last minute of today’s deadline to arrange the transfer because he wants a switch to London.

Also, there are no complications when it comes to travelling because Saul can wrap up the deal while in Madrid rather than fly to London.

90min, as relayed by The Chelsea Chronicle earlier, reported that the Blues have managed to persuade Saul into joining them.

The £207,000-a-week left-footer is a skilful central midfielder by trade, but he has the versatility to slot in at wing-back if needed.

There is still life in Saul move to Chelsea

It’s been a tough watch following Chelsea’s transfer news over the last couple of days and it seems like the bid to sign Saul will go down to the wire.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are running out of time to bring in a midfielder on loan that would be a massive help.

Of course, he’s got top level experience from 340 appearances with Atletico.

In addition, he would be the man to add some extra depth in the centre of the park to compete with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho for a starting position.
