Sevilla’s Jules Kounde will reportedly remain a potential target for Chelsea this summer once a new ownership takes charge at Stamford Bridge.

According to GOAL, the Blues are continuing to scout the transfer market while the takeover saga plays out.

It is understood it’s “likely” that the London club will still make a marquee transfer signing ahead of next season, with the next owners ready to sanction a big summer deal.

The report explains Kounde, who’s been a leading target for Chelsea, is still on the agenda for them.

Chelsea have four remaining bidders trying to purchase the club. They’ve all reportedly pledged to a cash-only proposal, too.

The news that the next ownership will be willing to inject cash into the squad immediately will delight Blues supporters.

Chelsea CB target

Kounde, previously described as “fantastic” by Frank Lebouef, is a highly rated young defender that would fall into the category of a statement addition this summer.

The 23-year-old’s been repeatedly linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge. For example, well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea were in discussions to try sort a deal for him before sanctions were placed on current Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

He’s an athletic ball-playing centre-back that ticks so many boxes as a modern defender. Hopefully, the Blues can soon get back to negotiating some kind of deal with the France international.

It would be great to bring new fresh young blood into the defence, especially when you’ve got a veteran centre-half like Thiago Silva around to mentor.
