Serie A club Bologna have reportedly scheduled talks in their bid to sign Chelsea player Malang Sarr, but Premier League side Everton are also setting their sights on him.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna are set to hold discussions with Sarr’s agent on Monday about a possible move to Italy.
It is understood that his high wages are a possible obstacle, with Spotrac claiming he earns £120,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
Di Marzio says that Everton are rivals in the competition to sign the Blues defender. Also, he claimed yesterday on Twitter Bologna’s interest was over a loan deal.
Sarr is yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea, but did feature during the club’s pre-season.
The powerhouse centre-back only joined last summer from Nice before spending last season out on loan with Porto.
Malang Sarr to Everton looks perfect, but Bologna works if he plays
For Sarr, it makes little sense for him to stay with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea group this campaign.
The centre-half has a small chance of getting a look-in when the Blues have centre-backs such as Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma at their disposal.
Zouma previously had a successful loan on Merseyside with Everton, so perhaps Sarr should look to follow in his footsteps.
He’s yet to experience English football and it would a great learning curve at Goodison Park.
