Brighton are now in talks with Chelsea about a potential move to sign Conor Gallagher this summer.

That is according to 90min.

Brighton sold World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool earlier this month, and they’re now looking at Conor Gallagher as his potential replacement at the Amex Stadium.

90min claims that Premier League side Brighton have entered discussions with Chelsea over a swoop for Gallagher in this transfer window.

It is understood that the 23-year-old would be keen to work with Roberto De Zerbi, who’s the highly-rated Brighton manager that secured the club Europa League football for next season.

The report says that the Seagulls think there’s a “strong chance” they can finalise a deal for Gallagher, who’s also attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham and Tottenham this summer.

In addition, Brighton may be prepared to include Gallagher in a swap deal that could see their midfielder Moises Caicedo move in the opposite direction to Chelsea.

We’ve heard plenty of speculation this week that Chelsea are chasing a deal for Caicedo, 21, to strengthen them in the centre of the park.

It sounds like the Blues may finally have some leverage in the Caicedo deal if they include Gallagher as a makeweight.

The Daily Mail claimed last month that Chelsea will demand around £40million to sell Gallagher this summer.

We definitely think there’s more to come from Gallagher, who didn’t show his best form last season during his debut year in the Blues first-team squad. However, the ‘really special’ England international is still a top talent with a lot of potential.

In our view, losing Gallagher and driving down Caicedo’s price tag in the process may be smart business.
