Report: PL manager holds talks about 'phenomenal' Chelsea loanee he wants next season

Everton manager Frank Lampard has reportedly held talks with Chelsea about the future of Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher, 22, is a midfield talent that’s playing out on loan this season with Crystal Palace.

The Blues loanee is making a huge impact at Selhurst Park, scoring seven goals and making five assists already so far this campaign.

According to TEAMtalk, Premier League boss Lampard has already held discussions with his former club about Gallagher.

It is understood he would like to bring the central midfielder to Everton next season, so wants to be at the front of the queue in the scenario that Chelsea decide to loan him out again.

Incidentally, current Blues manager Thomas Tuchel explained yesterday that he’s “happy” Gallagher is a Chelsea player, but that a decision on his future will be made in the summer.

Gallagher, previously described as “phenomenal” by Mark Schwarzer, can only continue focusing on his football at Palace.

He’s unavailable to play against his parent club in Saturday’s Premier League match, though.

Chelsea future

Of course, Lampard’s still going to have plenty of connections at Stamford Bridge given his legendary status at the club from his playing career.

In fairness, he did a great job developing Mason Mount earlier in his career when he took him on loan at Derby County.

It won’t be a surprise to see some transfer business done between Everton and Chelsea when the summer comes around, but the latter may need to take Gallagher off the table.

He’s a Lampard-esque player given his box-to-box midfield style.

Tuchel’s spoken highly of him already, so it would be great to see the talented loanee given a chance to make his senior breakthrough at the Bridge in the next pre-season.
