Report: Player already considering summer exit despite recent Chelsea return
Valencia remain interested in Chelsea winger Kenedy who is already considering his summer options despite his recent Stamford Bridge return, according to Spanish outlet El Desmarque.
The 26-year-old returned to London early from his season-long loan deal at Flamengo after a decision from Chelsea which took the player himself by surprise (via The Sun).
The plan is obvious. Kenedy is to provide more cover for the left wing-back position amid Ben Chilwell’s long-term injury.
However, despite Thomas Tuchel’s previously admitting that Kenedy caught his attention earlier in his career, it seems unlikely that Kenedy will keep his place in the squad next season.
So, it is easy to see why he is reportedly already looking at his options despite being tied to the club until 2024.
Valencia, according to El Desmarque, could be his next destination.
The report mentioned that Valencia manager Jose Bordalas rates the Brazilian very highly and the two previously worked together at Getafe.
The Spanish club even reportedly made an enquiry for Kenedy last summer.
It is difficult to imagine that Chelsea would block the former Fluminese star from leaving unless he can somehow convince Tuchel to keep him in the next few months.
Chilwell is expected to miss the start of next season, but Chelsea will still have plenty of other left-back options by then, including Ian Maatsen.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Coventry City and the club reportedly considered recalling him in January before eventually deciding to go with Kenedy, instead.
