Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with the representative of out-of-favour Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku over a possible summer transfer, according to French outlet But!.

The 28-year-old has played a significantly less prominent role at Stamford Bridge in the second half of the season so far.

He has slipped behind Kai Havertz in the striking pecking order with his only two starts in the last month being in the FA Cup clashes against Luton Town and Middlesbrough.

The striker still makes a lot of appearances as a substitute, but Chelsea clearly did not bring him in on a club-record deal last summer to be a backup striker.

Keeping him as a squad player while being one of the highest-earning players at the club does not seem a good plan either, financially speaking.

From Lukaku’s perspective, a move away from Stamford Bridge could also prove beneficial, as previously pointed out by Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez.

Despite his inconsistent performance at Chelsea, Lukaku reportedly still attracts interest from other clubs, including PSG.

But! claims that the French club’s sporting director, Leonardo, has recently had talks with the striker’s agent.

While PSG reportedly have other attackers, such as Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland, and Mohamed Salah, under their radar, they are also aware any deal for these players could prove difficult.

Thomas Tuchel said Lukaku is among Chelsea players who are struggling at the moment.

“It’s not only Romelu who is lacking a bit of shape after the international break,” the Chelsea manager said in Friday’s press conference.

“It’s sad that [he] had one very big chance [vs Real Madrid] and nothing else other than goals would be a huge boost for him.”
