Report: PSG now seriously considering signing ‘gutted’ Chelsea player this summer, his agent has been contacted

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly edging closer to making an offer to Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku’s signature.

According to GiveMeSport, PSG are ‘seriously considering the prospect’ of adding the Belgian to their already star-studded squad.

Romelu’s non-renaissance

Despite only returning to Stamford Bridge last summer, Lukaku is already apparently debating his Chelsea future.

The £97.5m (Sky Sports) move from Inter Milan has not quite gone the way either party planned.

Whilst 12 goals in 36 games is not an awful return – Timo Werner managed 12 in his debut season – Chelsea’s club-record signing should be doubling those figures.

He scored 24 times in Serie A as Inter went on to win their first league title for over a decade under Antonio Conte.

Lukaku was meant to provide a similar platform for Thomas Tuchel’s assault on Manchester City’s Premier League crown.

After rippling the net three times in his first three league outings, it appeared the new number nine was the final piece in Tuchel’s puzzle.

However, everything started to spiral out of control toward the tail end of 2021.

An injury sustained up in mid-October made Lukaku miss seven games across all competitions.

Not long after he recovered, the 28-year-old contracted coronavirus, taking another small chunk out of his campaign.

A long way back for Lukaku

Things appeared to be picking up when he scored in successive league matches against Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, a regrettable interview he did with Sky Italia came to the surface, in which he declared his love for Inter and suggested a conflict between his and Tuchel’s methods.

Since that saga, Lukaku has become the second-choice striker behind Kai Havertz and can hardly buy a start at the moment, leaving him feeling ‘gutted’, as GiveMeSport claim.

At this rate, his career will continue to derail unless something changes dramatically, and fast.

Hence why the attacker’s representatives are searching the market for options, which could land them at the door of PSG.

But! suggest that the Parisians have already made contact with Lukaku’s agent about a potential transfer.
