Real Madrid consider Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger as an “ideal” replacement for Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, according to Spanish outlet ABC.
The 28-year-old, whose contract at Chelsea expires next summer, has so far yet to agree a new deal to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Given his stellar performances under Thomas Tuchel, it has unsurprisingly attracted a lot of attention from several top clubs.
ABC mentioned Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich among clubs monitoring his contract situation.
Real Madrid, in particular, are very keen on bringing in the Germany international on a free transfer, the report added.
The Spanish club have reportedly even prepared a huge bonus for Rudiger if he is willing to sign a pre-contract in January.
They understandably want to reinforce their defence after losing both Ramos and Varane last summer. They seem to consider Rudiger an ideal candidate to play alongside David Alaba at the back.
Interestingly, ABC also claims that Chelsea have previously offered Rudiger a new contract worth €11million (£9.33m) a year, which is significantly higher from his current €6m (£5m)-a-year deal.
Last month, Rudiger himself clarified that he was not going to “rush” his decision and denied any contact with other clubs aside from Chelsea.
