AC Milan are reportedly eyeing Chelsea player Hakim Ziyech as a potential transfer target.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio on his official website, AC Milan are looking for potential replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu.
Attacking midfielder Calhanogl has now completed a move to bitter rivals Inter Milan
Di Marzio has named Chelsea playmaker Ziyech as a possible target on AC Milan’s list, who are a club that finished second in Serie A last season.
Ziyech, 28, had a mixed debut campaign at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea.
On the one hand, the left-footed attacker finished the season with a Champions League medal, and he played his part during the team’s success. However, the ex-Ajax playmaker may not have had the minutes he may have hoped.
He played 39 games across all competitions, scoring six goals and suppling four assists. But, wasn’t a nailed-on starter.
Chelsea’s star man Mason Mount did previously rave about Ziyech though earlier in the 2020/21 season:
“He’s a joy to play with, very clever on the ball, he brings a lot to the team. He’s a very good player,” Mount said last November.
Ziyech needs another year at Chelsea
For Ziyech, he’ll know he didn’t play at his very best consistently enough.
He showed glimpses of his true individual ability, so Blues supporters will be hoping for more next year.
It would be a crying shame for the club to give up on him now, amid potential interest from AC Milan.
Thomas Tuchel’s strong Chelsea squad should be highly ambitious going into next year, so it’s key they keep the strength in depth.
