Chelsea are reportedly edging close to securing a deal for Napoli midfielder Jorginho and appear to have beaten Manchester City to his signature.
The Italian has jetted into London ahead of a potential £57million move to Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports.
The Blues have reportedly agreed an initial £50million fee with the Serie A club for the defensive midfielder with £7million in bonuses.
Chelsea supporters received official confirmation on Friday that they have parted ways with manager Antonio Conte, with the Guardian reporting that Maurizio Sarri is set to replace him.
Jorginho could become the first first-team addition this summer for Chelsea and he has a big reputation after impressing in Italy.
He is a deep-lying playmaker that has drawn comparisons to the likes of Xavi and Andrea Pirlo due to his excellent range of passing, something that sees him dictate matches.
The central midfielder has been a mainstay in the Napoli side that have lit up Serie A in recent seasons and could now be braced for his first taste in English football.
Chelsea do of course have several options for the centre of the park in the shape of N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Danny Drinkeater and Ross Barkley.
However, the £50million-plus signing can surely expect to be a regular in the starting XI if his deal gets over the line.
