Reports have claimed that there are growing fears at Chelsea that Brighton will attempt to poach Levi Colwill from them this summer.

According to The Evening Standard, the Seagulls may launch a bid to sign him permanently after his current loan spell comes to an end.

This campaign has been somewhat of a breakout one for Colwill, with it being his first that he’s been a Premier League regular. He was still extremely impressive last year in the Championship with Huddersfield.

Now though, he is establishing himself on the radar of numerous elite sides, and perhaps even more impressively the England national team.

Gareth Southgate is reportedly very close to calling him up. He may even have already been awarded that honour if he was fit when the last selection was made.

There will be hopes among the Chelsea supporters that Colwill will be able to walk into their first team as early as next season.

However, it has now been claimed that the Blues are a bit fearful that Brighton may make a move to sign the 20-year-old.

It has been reported in recent days that Chelsea are facing a summer of sales in an attempt to balance the books and be able to continue to spend money in the upcoming transfer window.

With Colwill undoubtedly worth a lot in the current transfer situation, there may be an appetite to let him go in order to help bring plenty of money in.

Midfield is another area there is plenty of risk could be decimated in order to raise funds. Reports have claimed there have been no talks as of yet regarding a new contract for Mateo Kovacic.

With Mason Mount also still not signing a new deal, it could be a new-look middle of the park at Stamford Bridge.
