Report: Todd Boehly has now personally looked into signing £65m attacker for Chelsea this summer

Todd Boehly has now reportedly looked into the potential signing of Chelsea target Raphinha from Leeds United.

Blues co-owner Boehly, who’s now working as the interim sporting director at Stamford Bridge, has personally taken an interest in the 25-year-old star.

According to the Guardian, Boehly has “explored the situation” surrounding the Leeds attacker.

It is understood Arsenal have had an offer rejected already for the exciting winger. Tottenham have informed Leeds they’re readying a bid, too.

The report adds Barcelona are far away right now from meeting Raphinha’s £65million asking price this summer, despite previously agreeing personal terms to take him to Spain.

With Boehly temporarily moving into this new role following Marina Granovskaia’s exit, it’s going to be intriguing to see how much influence he has over the final say on transfer activity. Incidentally, well-respected journalist David Ornstein claims the 48-year-old has been busy on the phone and active in the transfer market for Chelsea so far this summer.

Boehly looked into signing Raphinha

It’s a fresh new update that Chelsea’s hierarchy have set their sights on Leeds winger Raphinha. Let’s see if the Blues decide to ramp up interest in the coming days.

It’s been reported the Brazilian would prefer to a move to Stamford Bridge if a deal can be arranged with Barcelona.

Recent history suggests the Blues need to be careful when splashing out huge transfer fees because they’ve had more failures than success lately.

However, Raphinha is such an eye-catching player it’s easy to picture him succeeding at a higher level.

The trickster is proven in the Premier League and plays for the Brazil national side, but £65million would be a sizeable gamble.
