Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has personally asked RB Leipzig about signing Benjamin Sesko.

According to 90min, Boehly has now made contact with German’s Leipzig about the 19-year-old striker.

Leipzig, who are competitors in this season’s Champions League, completed a deal to sign Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer. However, the Slovenian teenager has stayed with Salzburg during the current 2022/23 season to continue his development.

Boehly has asked about Sesko

The news that Boehly has spoken with Leipzig about Sesko comes shortly after links to Stamford Bridge.

90min claimed earlier this month that Chelsea are considering a move to sign Sesko before he’s even kicked a ball in Leipzig colours. The report mentions he could cost €60million (£52million) to sign, too.

The centre-forward has five goals in 17 games so far this season for Salzburg, which includes a sole appearance against Chelsea in the Champions League group stages.

He’s a 6ft 5in target man that made a significant breakthrough with Salzburg last season, but now there’s a bigger pressure on him ahead of his imminent switch to Leipzig.

However, some clubs are hoping they can negotiate a transfer with Leipzig which will result in the player playing elsewhere next season.

As it stands, Chelsea’s striker department is looking a lot rosier than in recent years.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has three goals in five games for the Blues, has hit the ground running this term following his summer arrival.

Meanwhile, exciting youngster Armando Broja is looking the part when he gets action from the bench.

Kai Havertz is versatile enough to play through the centre, too.

It’s really worth seeing what Graham Potter can do with these current forwards before chasing another big-money signing at the front end of the pitch.
