Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is reportedly an enormous fan of transfer target Rafael Leao.

According to 90min, Chelsea have made it a priority in 2023 to sign Leao from his current club AC Milan.

It is understood that the Blues have been told a January deal will be impossible to pull off, but Boehly really likes the 23-year-old attacker and is planning more discussions.

The report adds that the Portugal international has rejected initial offers from Milan to extend his contract at the San Siro.

This comes after journalist Florian Plettenburg claimed on Twitter that Chelsea have seen an opening bid of £60million for Leao turned down.

Boehly enormous fan of Leao

In our view, this is a transfer that would earn Boehly some massive credit with the Chelsea fanbase.

The rapid left-winger is one of the star names for Milan, hitting seven goals and nine assists in 20 appearances already this season. Also, the Portuguese dazzler looked a real livewire during the World Cup tournament with a couple of goals.

Described as “unbelievable” by Patrice Evra, Leao is a really exciting individual that could light up the Premier League in the right environment.

Leao proved himself to be a World Cup star in Qatar despite not starting any of Portugal’s five games. The speedster made a positive in all five substitute appearances, so serious questions have to be asked over why he didn’t get more minutes on the pitch.

Chelsea are still searching for a goalscoring winger to fill the boots of Eden Hazard, who did leave Stamford Bridge a few years ago now.

AC Milan’s forward has the potential to be a seriously exciting signing.
